The vidyalaya is coming under Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan an autonoumous body under the union Ministry of Human Resources Development. KVS has over 931 schools across the country and abroad, affiliated to the CBSE, New Delhi.

The vidyalaya was established on 7th July 1997. It is functioning at present in a semi permanent building constructed with the help of LAD funds of Hon'ble Ex. M.P. Shri K. Muralidharan and Ex. M.P. Shri. P. Shankaran, at Munderi which is about 2 km from Kalpetta town in picturesque surroundings of ayanad. Wayanad district is nestled amidst the majestic mountaine of Western Ghat at a height of 700m to 2100m above the sea level.

Aims & Objectives

The Kendriya Vidyalayas are run by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an Autonoumous body formed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, New Delhi, as per the recommendations of the Second Pay Commission. They are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi and have common syllabus and curriculum. Each vidyalaya is a miniature India, aiming to the inculcate among the students feelings of patriotism brotherhood and national integration.

Main Objectives

  1. To cater to the educational needs of the children of transferable Central Government employees including Defence and paramilitary personnel, by providing a common programme of education.
  2. To pursue excellence and set pace in the field of school education.
  3. To initiate and promote experimentation and innovation in education in collaboration with other bodies like the CBSE, NCERT etc.
  4. To develop the spirit of national integration and create a sense of "Indianness" among children.
